Random Thought Most states charge around
one hundred dollars for filing an LLC although this varies somewhat.
You will be required to pay this amount each year. If you are a
single member LLC, simply list yourself as holding all offices and the
registered agent. The registered agent is who will be served with
papers if your LLC is ever sued. Many novices think this must be
an attorney but you should list yourself.

State Filing
I was going to go into great detail about how to do
the state filing online at your state's "Secretary of State" page.
Then I remembered how much of a hassle it is. The last time I
did it myself it took half a day and I had to fax the state
signature sheets four times. I was still sending them a month
later! Now I use an online filer. I reiterate, save
yourself the hassle and use an online filing company.
If you are going to do it yourself make sure you know
exactly what items you will be required to fill out. If you
are going to have employees or are in a regulated industry, you will
need to have all employee, workers comp, and licensing information
available.
